Police Department

The village has it’s own police department, also located in the Village Offices. This consists of:

One police chief, four full-time officers and two part-time officers.

They provide 24-hour coverage, 7 days a week. The police department has a k-9 unit, teaches DARE to grade school students, provides a child seat program, and provides animal control.

Fire and Rescue 

The fire and ambulance district is governed by a three-member board. They are appointed every three years. The fire and ambulance districts have approximately 100square miles in their district. The fire department has 28 volunteer members. The equipment consists of 3 pumpers, 2 tankers, and 1 rescue truck. The fire and rescue units have just moved into a new facility with all of their equipment under one roof.  They are one of the best departments in this area. Their ISO rating is 9-7. The ambulance department has 16 members. They operate 2 ambulances. They are classified as 1 unit by the State of Illinois.
