July 13, 2010
A Street and Alley Committee meeting of the Village of Arthur, IL, was held on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at the Street Department Building. Chairman Karen Good called the meeting to order at 7:30am. Roll call was answered by Committee Members Karen Good and Larry Miller. Also present were Village employees Jim Watkins and Storm Smith, Police Chief Mike Goodman, and Larry Miller from Jackson Ford / Chevrolet. Village President Ron Kingery arrived during the meeting.
Specifications for a new truck were discussed which included color (white), engine (gas or diesel, larger size, F-350 minimum), brand (Ford or Chevy), bed requirements (hydraulic, 8' dump bed with 2' sides), and snow plow (V-plow) requirements. A good used truck would also be considered. It should have a regular cab, heat, air conditioning, and non-cloth interior (to aid in cleanliness).
Chief Goodman made the Committee aware of the need for speed limit, which needs to be set at 20 mph, and slow children playing signage needed on Dogwood Drive. Yield signs are needed at the intersection of 4th and Walnut Streets and slow children playing signs are needed in the 400 block of North Walnut Street.
Rock applied by citizens on Chaise Lane and the transferred liability was discussed, as was the need for a chip spreader. Bourbon Township is thinking of selling theirs. All additional seven blocks were able to be oiled and chipped due to the amount of rock the Village had. That project is complete.
Chairman Good adjourned the meeting at 8:13am.
