A Police Committee meeting of the Village of Arthur, IL, was held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Village President Ron Kingery called the meeting to order at 5:00pm. Roll call was answered by Village President Ron Kingery and Committee Members Iris Dicks and Larry Miller. Police Chief Mike Goodman, Jesse Whitford, and Chris Grossman were also present.

Chief Mike Goodman reviewed the recent staffing history for the Department. He stated the Nick Suding has not worked as an officer for the Village in two years. Chief Goodman has attempted to reach him several times, but he has not received a response. He will send N. Suding a letter releasing him from the part-time roster.

With all of the recent staffing changes, he would like to add two part-time officers to the roster. He introduced Jesse Whitford and Chris Grossman and reviewed their credentials, Chief Goodman feels they will both be a good fit for the Department. There was discussion with the candidates, Chief Goodman. and the Committee. J. Whitford and C. Grossman left the meeting

Chief Goodman stated the new squad car is here, but doesn't yet have the computer installed (needs a bracket) or the camera (the installation kit has been ordered). It will cost under $2,500 to outfit the car. He will request that the old car be declared excess property.

There was discussion about replacing the K9 unit car with one from the Missouri State Highway Patrol that is already outfitted as a K9 unit. The current car is encountering a lot of repairs. Chief Goodman explained the use of the K9 unit and the potential longevity and continuance of the program.

Chief Goodman has a meeting tomorrow regarding the fireworks. '

Speeding the community was discussed, and Chief Goodman stated he is doing more radar around the community.

Those with “junk" cars have been contacted and follow-up contact is being done.

Village President Ron Kingery adjourned the meeting at 5:59pm.
