Village Clerk 543-2927

June 14, 2010

A Street & Alley Committee meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Arthur was held on Monday, June 14, 2010. Karen Good Chairperson called meeting to order at 12:01 p.m. with roll call of Larry Mi11er and Karen Good in attendance. Jim Watkins. Stormy Smith, and Mayor Ron Kingery also attended meeting.

First Item was dealing with street signage and replacements. The corner of Ash/Park needs to be replaced due to someone hanging on it. Jim has blanks but needs to have Merle Miller make the blanks up with the letters. Stop sign at Lincoln/Popular was taken and also a Yield Sign at Cedar/Park, but both has been replaced.

Discussion on detour signs during the recent Strawberry Festival was talked about. Hickory Street is wider so had the traffic going that way and going north from there. Construction work on 133 and all the signs there made it hard to put additional signs in that area. Sign on East Progress Street and Oye’s keeps falling over and needs bigger bolts installed.

Jim Crane and Douglas County Highways received a grant recently for signage in Douglas County. We should be receiving new signs for Arthur anytime. We will have to replace and install, will need to spend money on bolts and try to make them hard to be taken off by someone.

Karen called Jim Crane also for his feelings on the four/way stop at Vine/Illinois, but has not returned phone call as of yet.

Drainage issues brought up were corner of Spruce/Logan by J. Grant's house, water keeps standing, and we really do not know what to do, without putting in a ditch and culvert under Logan St. so it can drain south. Discussed worse drainage area in Parkview that needs to be addressed. Mayor announced that most of the drainage issues are in a Mitigation Plan presented to Douglas County for further work. If passes we would get help on75/25 percentage of costs.

Other topics were roads being oiled and possibly when work would be done, also mentioned additional rock needs to be put down on Chaise Lane when bleeding occurs. County Line rd going south from the 4 way stop could use some work and will contact Steve Helton and see if he has any plans or Jonathan Creek Township.

Karen Good adjourned meeting at 12:38 p.m. Seconded by Larry Miller.
